Ntombi the Giraffe
After a long journey by boat from Auckland to Sydney and then by road from Sydney to Dubbo, Giraffe pair, Ntombi and travel partner Forrest arrived at Taronga Western Plains Zoo. After travelling five days due to a delay because of the high seas, the pair were immediately unloaded into the night yards once they arrived in Dubbo.
From this point the pair spent 30 days in quarantine where they were able to see the other Giraffe. Following the 30 day quarantine period the Giraffe pair was introduced to the rest of the herd. The introduction went extremely well with the herd accepting the new Giraffe into the group without a problem.
Ntombi is now one of the herd in the main exhibit and has settled in well after what could only be described as a trip of a lifetime. His travel partner Forrest will leave in early May to take up residency at Australia Zoo in Queensland.
