What animals do you work with?

I work in the Herpetofauna Division which includes all of our reptile & amphibian species.

How long have you been working as a zookeeper/vet/vet nurse?

I have been with Taronga Zoo for 6 years

How did you get into zookeeping/vet/vet nursing as a profession?

I worked in reptile and amphibian research for over 20 years in several universities, and made the change to zookeeping at the age of 46.

What do you love most about your job?

The variety!  Every day is different, and we have daily, weekly and even annual deadlines to keep us interested.  Working with such a wonderful variety of reptiles and amphibians is for me a great privilege.

What has been the wildest moment of your career so far?

Handling angry and highly venomous snakes that are admitted to our Wildlife Hospital for treatment and catching, boxing and transporting a 350 kg crocodile from Townsville to Sydney.
